Challenges
-
Presenting large amounts of real-time data in a clear and digestible way.
-
Ensuring readability and visual consistency across different display environments (desktop and large TV screens).

Goal
To create an intuitive, real-time dashboard that enhances visibility of wind farm performance across Ørsted
UI Review
This project was a redesign of Ørsted’s existing dashboard used to monitor wind farm production in real time. As the UI designer, I worked from the given requirements to improve the overall clarity, visual hierarchy, and usability of the interface. I started by reviewing the previous dashboard to identify areas that can be improved.
Main page

-
Information for each wind farm was cramped together, making it difficult to read and compare data easily.
-
Low contrast between some text and background colors made the interface less accessible for visually impaired users.
-
The overall visual design lacked aesthetic appeal and modern polish.
Regional view

-
Some elements occupy more space than necessary, making the layout feel unbalanced.
-
Overall, the data isn’t presented intuitively , for instance, active power, capacity, and wind speed could be better organized to show their relationships more clearly.
Sketching and High fidelity design
I sketched several layout ideas to explore cleaner ways of organizing key data and highlighting critical insights. One of the main challenges was maintaining visual consistency between the large-screen and desktop versions. Since the large-screen display is non-interactive, I needed to ensure that users could still view all wind farm capacities at a glance. To address this, I drew inspiration from environments that use large display systems effectively ,such as airport information boards where clarity, hierarchy, and legibility are essential.

Navigating limited time in feedback collection

Due to the limited time I have for this project, I wasn’t able to conduct formal user research or usability testing. Instead, I organized a design critique session with my UX colleagues, involving them as both proxy users and expert reviewers. This approach allowed me to gather valuable feedback from a user’s perspective while also leveraging their UX expertise to refine the design
